2022 sees the return of Berlin artist Marco Barotti, who was a guest at the 2018 edition of Oranjewoud Festival with swans made from satellite dishes and technical waste. At this year’s festival, he will be hanging a number of woodpeckers in the trees of Overtuin which will make rhythmic pecking sounds on xylophone keys. The birds are activated by radio signals from people’s mobile phones. The more phones in the vicinity, the more powerful the tapping of the woodpeckers, in ever-changing patterns, with the xylophone keys creating certain harmonies. This, in turn, triggers the virtual artwork by Strijbos & Van Rijswijk.
