Maria & Nathalia Milstein

De Volkskrant called her a ‘rare bird in violinist land’ and compared her tone ‘that oozes melancholy’ with that of a young Yehudi Menuhin. Violinist Maria Milstein, of the famous Van Baerle Trio, quickly made a name for herself in the Netherlands and beyond. In January 2018, she was awarded the Nederlandse Muziekprijs, the most prestigious Dutch music award. In her sister Nathalia, who also already has numerous awards to her name as a pianist, she found the perfect duo partner. They play ‘as if they were one single entity’, technically flawless, De Volkskrant wrote enthusiastically on the occasion of the release of their first CD La Sonate de Vinteuil, inspired by Marcel Proust.

At Oranjewoud, the sisters will be playing pieces by French composers Mélanie Bonus and Lili Boulanger, who both died young, as well as the famous Sonate in A by César Franck.
