Despite its short existence, young trombone quartet Nymphéas has already been causing a stir. It is not just their focus on a French impressionist repertoire that sets them apart, but also the fact that they chose a line-up of four tenor trombones, instead of the traditional three tenors and one bass trombone. This gives the ensemble a clear, elegant sound, with which they want to highlight the more delicate side of the trombone. What’s more, the four young men aim to boost the repertoire of the trombone quartet by arranging and composing new music and inspiring other composers.
This free pop-up concert – which is easily accessible, preferably by bike – is a gift to the visitors of Arcadia, Hotel Tjaarda, Oranjewoud Festival and all the village residents, courtesy of the festival.
